Brunswick Stand-Off Suspect Fatally Shot by Police
BRUNSWICK, Ohio — After a stand-off lasting nearly 30 hours, police fatally shot the suspect “several times” Saturday night, according to Medina County Coroner Dr. Neil Grabenstetter.
Grabenstetter did not release the 39-year-old male suspect’s name Sunday morning, saying it must be released by Brunswick Police Department.
The stand-off began Friday around 1:30 p.m. and abruptly ended at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The man was allegedly with a female victim inside the home during the stand-off. The female victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.
Brunswick police Sunday morning would not comment further on the matter or release any other details.
The stand-off started after the police department received a phone call from the brother of the suspect, saying his brother was at the Jefferson Avenue home to assault his ex-girlfriend.
When police arrived, they set up a perimeter after finding the front door damaged and barricaded. Officers heard a man and a woman arguing inside, said police.
Police say contact was made with the man, who said he would not come out and was armed.
