Suspect in robber at First Merit Bank

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are searching for the suspect who was wearing a bright yellow rain suit and reflective vest during an armed bank robbery Monday.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. at First Merit Bank, 1675 Merriman Road. Police said the suspect demanded money from the teller and then fired a shot in wall behind the teller counter.

Police said the teller gave the suspect money, and the suspect then ran away. The suspect is described as a black male around 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a medium build and deep voice. The man was wearing a black ski mask, black boots, bright yellow rain suit and a yellow reflective vest with “visitor” written on the back.

He had a black semi-automatic pistol and was carrying a drawstring bag, police said.
