MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Police say a woman faked her 22-month-old daughter’s death so she could collect money from co-workers for the funeral.
But the funeral never happened because her daughter is alive and well.
Jessica Banks, 24, reportedly told her colleagues that her daughter died from an asthma attack.
She collected more than $400 from her co-workers and even showed them a program of her daughter’s funeral.
When they went to the church, there was no service.
Investigators say Banks confessed to detectives about making the whole story up because she wanted attention from her family and friends.
She allegedly used the money from her co-workers to buy clothes for her daughter.
Banks was arrested and fired from her job.
