If you lost your job or had some other unexpected expense, would you have the cash to cover it? If you’re like nearly half of all Americans, the answer is no.

A recent survey by CreditDonkey.com finds 41% of Americans have less than $500 in savings.

The group include dual-income earners with homes, cars, 401k retirement savings plans, and credit card bills. Financial experts say these people have no liquid assets to cover a car breakdown or unexpected doctor visit.

Of those with less than $500 in the bank, more than half fear they’ll never be able to save money.
