1 Person Dead in Canton House Fire

CANTON, Ohio — Firefighters in Canton are trying to figure out what started a fire that killed at least one person.

It happened around 3 a.m. Friday at 1430 24th Street NW.

According to Chief John Whitlatch, Canton Fire Department, the house was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

They were able to get the fire under control in less than an hour and continued to put out hot spots in the walls.

A neighboring house sustained some damage from the fire.

At least one adult inside the home was killed by the fire. The victim had not been identified. More than an hour after their arrival, crews were still trying to access part of the home.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
