Shots Fired Before Car Slams Into Tree

GARFIELD HEIGHTS — Police in Garfield Heights are investigating the bizarre circumstances surrounding an accident that ended with a car crashing into a tree and a parked car.

It happened on McCracken Boulevard near East 98th Street.

Just before the crash police got a call about shots fired outside Bonker’s Bar on Turney Road.

When officers responded, they spotted a car speeding down McCracken Boulevard.

That car slammed into a tree and then hit a parked van.

The driver, who has not been identified, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

Police say he lived on McCracken Boulevard just a few houses from where the crash took happened.

Investigators believe the driver was the man who was firing shots outside the bar. No one was hit.
