AKRON — Seven-time Grammy award-winning rapper Will.i.am stopped at the University of Akron Monday to stump for President Barack Obama.

Will.i.am’s appearance is part of a two-day tour through Ohio, which will end Tuesday when he performs at an Obama rally at Ohio State University.

At the University of Akron, Will.i.am performed to encourage students to register to vote and vote early. His tour also coincides with the second week of early voting in Ohio.

Last Friday, Obama spoke at Cleveland State and made a stop at the West Side Market.

The Mitt Romney campaign will also swing through Ohio Monday and Tuesday. The Republican presidential candidate hosted a roundtable in Bedford Heights last month.

Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan held an event in Swanton Monday morning.

Romney will headline a rally in Cuyahoga Falls Tuesday at the city’s Natatorium. Doors open at 5 p.m. That event is free to the public, but tickets are needed to get inside.
