Ohio State University v. Nebraska

COLUMBUS — It was Ohio State’s coming out party on offense.  The Buckeyes put up 63 points and knocking out visiting Nebraska’s 38. The Cornhuskers were making their first trip to Ohio Stadium since 1956.

Ironically, it was the Buckeyes defense who put the first points of the game on the board when Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez was intercepted by Bradley Roby and returned it 41-yards for an Ohio State touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

Nebraska took its first lead late at 14-7 in the first quarter when Ameer Abdullah finished off a 4-play, 28 yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run.  The Buckeyes regained the lead midway through the second quarter when Braxton Miller hit Jeff Heuerman on the 18-yard touchdown pass and Ohio State was back in business up 21-17.

The Buckeyes added two more scores late in the second quarter and took a 35-24 lead into the half.  Nebraska climbed back into the game quickly when Martinez hit Ben Cotton on the 3-yard touchdown strike with pulled the Cornhuskers within four at 35-31.

It was all Buckeyes from there, Carlos Hyde, Brett Maher and Rod Smith all added second half scores.

The Buckeyes scored a late touchdown bringing the score to Nebraska 63 – 38. The team is now 6 – 0 overall.
