Man with Special Needs Found Safe

Gary Ross, 61

MENTOR, Ohio — Mentor police found the man who was reported missing from the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood Center Monday afternoon.

Gary Ross, 61, was found just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Mentor police dispatcher told Fox 8 News that Ross was unharmed. He was taken to Lake West Hospital as a precaution.

Ross walked away from the Deepwood Center at 8121 Deepwood Boulevard around 3:50 p.m. The Mentor Police and Fire Departments began searching for Ross minutes later.

Police were especially concerned since Ross was described as non-verbal and was known to avoid people.

Investigators say tips from the public helped them find Ross.
