Funeral Service Planned for Willoughby Officer
WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Two communities are mourning the death of Officer Jason Gresko. Gresko served full-time police for the Cleveland Clinic PD and part-time for Willoughby.
He passed away Friday night after his cruiser collided with a pickup truck on Harmony Lane and then hit a tree in Willoughby. Police say, Gresko was responding to another call to help another Willoughby officer. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. No charges have been filed.
Gresko was 32-years-old, a loving husband and father. His family says, he died doing what he loved to do, and that’s protecting and serving the citizens of northeast Ohio.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Monreal Funeral Home in Eastlake. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m.
Willoughby hasn’t lost an officer since 1955.
A Jason Gresko Memorial Fund has been set up in his honor. Contributions to the fund can be made made to the Western Lake County F.O.P. in care of Officer Jason Gresko at any local Huntington Bank.
