AKRON, Ohio — Buchtel’s seniors got to play their first real home game at Griffin Stadium since they were freshman back in 2009, and they made the most of it, routing rival Garfield 28-3 in an Akron City Series match-up.

Griffins quarterback Chris Davis threw a career-high four touchdown passes, three to fellow senior Elijah Bell in the second half as Buchtel broke open a game that Garfeld led 3-0 at halftime. The Rams played tough, but hurt themselves with five turnovers, including four lost fumbles.

Buchtel (2-3, 2-0) has won two straight after an 0-3 start. The Griffins now lead the Akron City Series, and host winless Ellet (0-5) next Saturday, September 29.

Garfield (2-3, 1-1) returns home next week to host North (1-4), a 41-13 loser to St. Thomas Aquinas.
