KANSAS CITY — The struggling Cleveland Indians tried to extend a one-game winning streak in Kansas City, Friday evening.  But they lost again.

The Kansas City Royals beat the Tribe behind the strong pitching of Luis Mendoza.  The Royals won the first game of a three game series, 6-3.

The Indians now have lost 40 of 52 games since July 26th.

They were only three and a half games off the pace in the American League’s Central Division on that date.

The Tribe is now struggling to stay out of last place in the division.

The Royals and Indians meet again in Kansas City, Saturday evening.
