CLEVELAND — Week 5 of Fox 8’s Friday Night Touchdown kicks off at an emotional homecoming in Chardon.

The Hilltoppers football team is off to an unbeaten start at 4-0, after a 63-7 win last week over Eastlake North.

Quarterback T.J. Benenati has scored two touchdown each of the past two weeks, but the power running of fullback Matt Bolden out of the Wing -T offense has keyed Chardon’s success.

Bolden has ran for 265-yards and three touchdowns in wins over Maple Heights and the Rangers.

Madison comes in to the match-up at 3-1 and has been able to run the ball effectively this season themselves. Brandon Davis found the endzone four times last week in a 35-14 win over University School.

Madison is just three points away from a perfect season so far. The Blue Streaks only loss came to Lakeview, 26-23, during the season’s opening week.

Two teams with no losses square off in Cuyahoga Heights as defending Division V State Champion Kirtland comes to town.

The Hornets have flexed their muscle this season in bulldozing fashion. Last week’s 57-0 win over Newbury was just the latest example.

Running back Damon Washington was explosive in the win, scoring three touchdowns on his first three offensive touches. Washington has 13 touchdowns on the year for an offense that is averaging 47.5 points per game.

The Hornets are riding a 29 -ame regular season winning streak. Their last regular season loss came at the hands of their opponent tonight, Cuyahoga Heights, back in 2009.

The Redskins are playing some of their best football in the young season heading into tonight’s match-up.  Junior quarterback Jordan Martin was responsible in part for all five of his team’s touchdowns in a 36-12 win over Fairport Harding last week.

Martin has passed for over 860 yards on the season and a spectacular 12 touchdowns to just one interception.

In Elyria, an unbeaten North Royalton team comes-a-calling.

The Bears have been one of the surprise teams so far this season, especially on offense.

In a  25-18 win over Solon, senior quarterback Travis Tarnowski passed for 145 yards and ran for 31 more, while Carl Lint pounded out 94-yards on the ground. The duos workman-like performance was different that a week earlier when they helped the Bears pile on 56 points on Highland.

Early season prognostications had Elyria’s offense poised to be one of the area’s best and coach Kevin Fell’s group has not disappointed.

The Pioneers are averaging 43.5 points per game thanks to the play of their dynamic duo, quarterback Hunter Parsh and running back Jordan Connell.

Parsh has passed for 176 yards per game while Connell has racked up 520 yards on the ground. Connell scored four touchdowns in last weeks 41-14 win over Strongsville.

And in Avon Lake, the Shoremen host an unbeaten Midpark team that has surprised everyone with a passing game that is second to none.

Quarterback Doug Verbofsky has been outstanding under center, accounting for 17 touchdowns and more than 1,500 passing yards in four weeks.

Braxton Repasy has been Verbofsky’s favorite target, hauling in 30 passes and eight touchdowns.

Avon Lake has used a familiar formula in reaching their 3-1 record, ground-and-pound. Senior running back Collin Lucas has 440 yards on the ground while Wyatt Ohm has chipped in 250 of his own.
