WESTLAKE, Ohio — A self-employed music teacher and church choir director has been arrested, and is under investigation for allegations involving his students, Fox 8 News reports.

Westlake police say officers on Thursday went to the home of Kevin Foster, 36, on a search warrant and seized computers and cell phones.

Captain Guy Turner says the items “will be examined for evidence related to possible crimes involving his female students.”

Foster was arrested Thursday at Westlake United Methodist Church on two counts of liquor offenses involving underage persons. He’s suspected of providing the alcohol to two of his female students who are under 21.

“The investigation is continuing; parents or guardians of Foster’s female pupils should ask them about their contacts with Foster. Report any questionable behavior or concerns to the police department where such behavior took place,” Turner stated in a news release.

Ron Frey, Foster’s attorney, on Friday sent Fox 8 News the following statement:

“Mr. Foster has been an active member in the church for the last eight years. He is held in high esteem by the congregation and those who have worked with him. He looks forward to addressing this matter in court.”

Pastor John Butchko, of Westlake United Methodist Church, released the below statement:

“We are aware of the arrest of Kevin Foster, and we are deeply saddened by it. We will seek to find ways to help all who were involved.”

Foster gave lessons in his home and also served as a recital accompanist to student musicians in several area school systems.

He’s due in Rocky River Municipal Court on September 26.

Foster’s bond conditions forbid him from having any contact with the alleged victims. He’s also not allowed to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 through church or school activities.
