PARMA, Ohio — The woman whose son was found wandering alone in the rain Tuesday has been found guilty of child endangering.

Amanda Aleman, 24, pleaded no contest to the charge in Parma Municipal Court Wednesday and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. She was given credit for two days, and the rest of the sentence was suspended.

Aleman must also serve a year’s probation and pay a fine.

The woman’s 3-year-old son was found soaking wet and walking alone early Tuesday morning near West 44th Street and Grantwood Avenue.

Police identified Aleman as his mother about three hours later when police received a tip from someone who saw the boy’s picture on TV.

Aleman told police she was sleeping and didn’t realize her son had left the house.
