EASTLAKE, Ohio — A suspected hit-and-run driver struck a car early Tuesday morning, fled the scene, then ditched the damaged vehicle, the Eastlake Police Department reported.

It happened just before 5 a.m. near the SR 2 exit and SR 91.

A 57-year-old woman was waiting for the light to turn onto SR 91, when an SUV slammed into her Honda at high-speed, pushing it into the intersection and toward the entrance ramp to SR 2, according to the EPD’s Facebook page.

The Honda was so damaged after the crash that the woman had to be extricated from the car. She was taken to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment. Luckily, police said her injuries were nonlife-threatening.

Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV took off after the crash. Police later found the heavily damaged vehicle in Cleveland.

The suspect was nowhere to be found.

Anyone with information should contact the Eastlake Police Department.
