CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald on Tuesday revealed his pick for county prosecutor, one day after Bill Mason announced he’d leave his role at the end of the month.
FitzGerald selected former judge — and Democratic nominee — Timothy McGinty to take over for Mason when he resigns on September 30.
“I am pleased to appoint Judge Tim McGinty to serve as Acting Prosecutor, effective upon the date of Bill Mason’s resignation,” said FitzGerald. “I look forward to working together with Judge McGinty to continue to reform and move Cuyahoga County forward.”
“I am honored by the appointment of County Executive FitzGerald and look forward to working with him to make Cuyahoga County an even better and safer place to live and work,” Judge McGinty said in a statement.
