Indians Fall to the Detroit Tigers 5-3

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Indians fell to the Detroit Tigers 5-3 at home Saturday.

The Tigers got off to a head start in the first inning with two runs, and the Tribe never recovered.

The Indians scored their first two runs of the game at the bottom of the seventh inning following a double by Russell Canzler. His double to deep right center sent Carlos Santana home, scoring the first run. Canzler then scored following Lonnie Chisenhall’s RBI to center, making it a 5-2 game.

The Tribe scored their third run of the game at the bottom of the eighth on Asdrubal Cabrera’s single to right field sent Cord Phelps home, making it a 5-3 game.

Cleveland pitching starter Justin Masterson lasted 4 2/3 innings before being replaced.

The Indians host the Tigers again Sunday at Progressive Field at 3:05 p.m.
