SPARTANBURG, South Carolina (WHNS) — Five friends managed to catch a huge alligator over the weekend while hunting on Lake Moultrie in Berkeley County.
The Spartanburg County men are celebrating because it took about 30 hours to bring in the gator.
The men said the gator hunt wasn’t just about catching an alligator; it was about them just having fun.
The alligator weighed in at a whopping 700 pounds, taking them three days catch it. They did admit it took all five of them to get the gator.
Last year, the men caught two gators for the first time. One was a little more than 6 feet and the other a little more than 11 feet.
The men hope to go gator hunting once again before the season ends in October. They also said they plan to eat the gator.
