Police Charge Driver in Crash Where Car, Home Struck

STREETSBORO, Ohio — The driver accused of causing a car crash that injured a Mantua couple and damaged a home at State Route 43 at Tinkers Green has been charged by authorities.

According to Lt. Darin Powers of the Streetsboro Police Department, Cynthia Hanish, 48, surrendered at the Streetsboro Police Station on an aggravated vehicular assault warrant on Thursday morning.

A warrant for Hanish’s arrest was issued on Wednesday as a result of an investigation by Streetsboro Police.

Hanish was the driver of a Ford F150 on Friday, September 7, 2012 that struck another vehicle at the intersection of Tinkers Green and State Route 43.

The impact of the crash sent Hanish’s vehicle sideways, striking a home at 1004 South Sagramore. The incident caused structural damage to the home.

The driver of the vehicle struck by Hanish and the driver’s wife were taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries.

Hanish was transported to Akron City Hospital by Metro Lifeflight following the accident. A blood test at the hospital revealed her blood alcohol content to be .177. Hanish was arrested and taken to the Ravenna Municipal Court for an arraignment.
