Missing Woman Found Alive in Freezer
TULSA, Okla. — A woman missing since Saturday has been found alive in a deep freezer Wednesday.
Authorities said family and friends weren’t able to reach 59-year-old Theresa Christian so they went to check on her.
Her son, Jermal Stewart, found her with severe frostbite on her legs, but alive, in the deep freezer at her apartment near 23rd St. and Southwest Blvd.
Stewart said he heard moaning coming from the pantry where the closet door was closed but the freezer door was open.
Authorities are still working to find out how the woman ended up in the freezer and how long she was in there.
Her family said she is scared of storms and may have climbed in for safety during the city’s bad weather last Friday night.
Her son said he isn’t sure why his mother couldn’t get out of the freezer but that she is on a lot of medication and sometimes gets confused.
She was taken to the hospital in serious condition and could face surgery on her frost-bitten legs.
Police said no foul play is suspected.
