STRONGSVILLE — There’s no way not to see it. Center Middle in Strongsville is proud to be this week’s Fox 8 Cool School.
The school has received the “Cool School” honor for the second straight year.
While some students give credit to the teachers, others say the “cool school” distinction comes with “Center Pride.”
Seventh grader Molly Searles said it all starts with following the school motto — We care. We respect. And, we learn.
“We take pride in everything whether it’s on the field, in the classroom, in the hallway,” Molly said.
“Center Pride is what makes our school such a safe, exciting and fun place to be,” 7th grader Lily Schwab added.
Principal Jennifer Pelko said respect and caring go hand in hand at Center Middle School.
The learning environment at Center Middle School means no bullying allowed.
“We care about our kids, and we do everything possible to insure that they are learning, that they feel comfortable and safe at school, and that they get a quality education day in and day out,” Principal Pelko said.
Technology in the classroom was not just given to these students.
They raised $8,000 in walk-a-thons to purchase E-Know Smart boards.
“Our school is 104 years old, so it makes technology very costly and difficult. And this let us buy E-Know boards for our classrooms,” 8th Grader Diana Ridgeway added.
Center Middle School students excel on and off the field.
This season, they have cross country, football and volleyball.
The 8th grade volleyball team and the 8th grade football team are undefeated so far.
But learning takes top priority at Center Middle. The school has improved its State rating to Excellent for the past two years.
From academics to athletics, those are just some of the reasons that makes Center Middle such a “Cool School.”
