WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — The black bear that has popped up in several local cities this week is out and about again.

Warrensville Heights police officers responded Thursday morning to the area of Richmond Road between Miles Road and 422, where the animal, dubbed “The Bedford Bear” was reportedly roaming around.

Just before 9:30 a.m., police were tracking the bear into the business district of town, but soon lost sight of it at Gary and Springfield roads. Officers had set up a perimeter to keep an eye on the animal in hopes that it would retreat to a nearby wooded area.

No further sightings had been reported as of Thursday afternoon, Warrensville Heights police said.

Anyone who encounters the bear is urged not to approach it, and report the sighting to authorities.
