CLEVELAND -- Police are searching for a lone suspect who shot and killed a Cleveland mother just after midnight on Labor Day morning.

The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Amy Cole.

According to police, Cole and her husband were parked by the side of the road near the intersection of East 90th Street and Superior Avenue in Cleveland.

Police report that Cole's husband says a man approached the car, demanded his wife's purse, and then fired a shot before fleeing.

"My sister didn't deserve this," says Verrie Joseph, "and we need to know who it is. And I want them caught."

After the shooting, Cole's husband drove her to the nearby VA hospital in University Circle where she was pronounced dead.

Joseph holds back tears and she describes her sister as a "beautiful, caring person."

"I'm in disbelief," she says, "I just spoke to my sister last night, and she was planning a dinner for the holidays."

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Cleveland police.
