Community Honors Life of Local Athlete Killed at Munich Olympics

BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- A community honored the life of David Berger, one of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches who were kidnapped and killed during the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany Sunday.

Berger was an Israeli-American Shaker Heights native who became part of their national team as a weightlifter.

The Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland and several Jewish organizations, along the surrounding community remembered the 40th anniversary of the tragedy with a special program and memorial in Berger's and the teams' honor.
