The last original judge of American Idol is leaving his critiquing chair, TMZ reports.

Randy Jackson, best-known for his usage of the word “dawg,” will appear on the show occasionally as a mentor, show sources told the entertainment website.

FOX executives are allegedly close to finalizing a deal with rapper Nicki Minaj, who is rumored to be filling one of the empty judging spots.

Newly-tapped judge Mariah Carey, however, is reportedly not happy about sharing the table with another female judge.

No announcements have been made about the other open judging position(s).
