Man Arrested After Robbing Winner at Cleveland Casino
CLEVELAND — A gambler at Cleveland’s Horseshoe Casino, who won a large amount of money, was robbed after leaving the facility early Sunday morning, according to police.
Cleveland Police say Ronald Wells, of Cleveland, was arrested in connection to the crime.
According to a police report on the incident obtained by Fox 8 News, Wells allegedly robbed the victim of $1,800 around 4:55 a.m. on August 19th.
The robbery took place as the victim and a friend were leaving the casino and heading towards a parking lot in the Tower City Center.
Christina Karas, Ceasars Gaming Marketing Manager at The Horseshoe Casino, tells Fox 8 News that the arrest was made on Tuesday.
Security video from the casino was turned over to authorities to assist in their investigation, according to Karas.
According to the report, the victim said he and Wells were gambling at the same table during the course of the night.
According to Karas, 1.5 million guests have visited the casino since May and this is the first type of incident of its kind. She reminds casino visitors that anyone can request an escort when leaving the facility, regardless of the amount of winnings.
