Man Wanted for Chasing, Fatally Shooting Victim
CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police has urged the public to be on the lookout for a man accused of chasing down another man to shoot him on Cleveland’s east side.
An aggravated murder arrest warrant was issued for Byron James, 25, of Cleveland.
Police are also searching for a white Buick Century with the license plate number FKD9646.
Sgt. Sammy Morris said James and the Buick are believed to be involved in the fatal shooting that occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday.
The trouble began when the Buick approached a group of people standing in the 13400 block of Kelso Avenue in Cleveland.
According to Morris, James exited the vehicle and began shooting at the victim, later identified by the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office as Darius Lewis.
Lewis, 20, of Cleveland, tried to run away but was chased by James, who continued to shoot, Morris said.
Lewis was hit in the chest and collapsed in the 13000 block of Argus Avenue.
James and Lewis were said to have known each other, but details of their relationship were initially unknown.
Morris said James also left the scene in the Buick.
