Marchers Doused in ‘Shaving Cream Showdown’

MENTOR, Ohio — Members of Mentor High School’s 2012 Fighting Cardinal Marching Band blew off some steam on Thursday with their traditional “Shaving Cream Showdown.”
Over 220 students slathered each other with shaving cream then got hosed off by the Mentor Fire Department.
The action went down in a field behind the school and created quite a spectacle.
Catherine Robertson, the president of the booster organization that supports the band, said the Shaving Cream Showdown was a great way for the marchers to cool off after eight hours of intense rehearsal.
“This is a time for our kids to bond with each other, make memories and challenge themselves to grow,” Robertson said of the band experience.
The marching band performs under the direction of Steve Poremba.
