Dog Caught on Track Survives Passing Train
CLEVELAND — A dog caught on the railroad tracks in Tremont survived by ducking underneath a passing train.
It was originally believed three dogs had been tied to CSX tracks near the intersection of Scranton and University Roads.
However, the Cleveland Division of Police confirmed an investigation revealed only one dog had been at that site after her leash accidentally became lodged in the track.
“She somehow got between the railroad tracks and ducked under the train and she survived. And she doesn’t have a mark on her,” said Lesley DeSouza, the chief dog warden at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter.
DeSouza said the two-year-old, 22-pound Manchester/Terrier mix was scared, withdrawn and timid when she arrived at the facility on Monday.
She was slowly showing personality and regaining an appetite, despite the horror she had been through, as the shelter worked to find her owner.
