Police Say Man Beat Woman in Westlake Theater Parking Lot

WESTLAKE, Ohio — An Elyria man was taken into custody on Tuesday evening by Westlake Police for allegedly beating a woman in a movie theater parking lot.

According to Capt. Guy Turner with the Westlake Police Department, the suspect, 25-year-old Mitchell Kuhn, was arrested after authorities began receiving calls on the attack around 9:37 p.m.

Witnesses reported to police that Kuhn was beating the female in the Regal Cinemas parking lot at 30147 Detroit Road.

According to Turner, Kuhn was chased through the parking lot by a man who broke up the altercation. The Good Samaritan later assisted the arresting officer in apprehending Kuhn.

The victim, a 20-year-old Cleveland woman, was taken to St. John Medical Center by the Westlake Fire Department, where she was treated for cuts and bruises to her head. Turner says that the woman required several stitches for the cuts.

Police say that Kuhn and the victim did not know each other prior to the attack.

Kuhn had been drinking, according to Turner, and there are signs that he may have been under the influence of illegal drugs.

Kuhn remains housed in the Westlake City jail on a felonious assault charge and additional charges could be forthcoming.
