Employee Charged With Arson In Trucking Company Fire

BROOK PARK, Ohio — An employee of Valley Sterling Trucks has been charged with arson for intentionally setting the blaze that destroyed the company’s facility at West 150th Street and Brookpark Road.

According to Shane Cartmill, Public Information Officer with the Division of State Fire Marshal, the employee made statements that implicated himself in the fire when questioned by investigators from the Division of State Fire Marshal, ATF and Brook Park Police.

The Cuyahoga County prosecutor’s office identifies the employee as William H. Crawley, 54, of Canton.

According to Crawley’s case docket in Cuyahoga County, he was arrested on the charge on August 9th. His initial court appearance on the charge is slated for 1:45 p.m. today.

The fire, which broke out just after 6:30 a.m. on August 6th, did not injure anyone but did completely destroy the building.

An employee told Fox 8 News reporter Stacey Frey that he arrived to work that morning, opened the building’s doors and saw that a truck was on fire inside. The worker added that no one was in the building overnight.
