UPDATE: Movie Theater Suspect Indicted
WESTLAKE, Ohio — The man authorities say brought weapons to a movie theater in Westlake was indicted Monday.
According to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, Scott A. Smith is charged with carrying concealed weapons, a fourth-degree felony, a carrying a concealed weapon misdemeanor, and having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony.
The prosecution in the case is basing the third-degree weapons charge on a claim Smith has substance abuse issues.
Police say Smith, 37, of North Ridgeville, brought a loaded gun, several knives and ammunition to a showing of The Dark Knight at Regal Cinema in Crocker Park on August 4th. He has been jailed since August 7th and is being held on $250,000 bond.
Smith was scheduled to have preliminary hearing at 3 p.m. Tuesday, however his next appearance will be for his arraignment on Monday, August 27th at 8:30 a.m.
