Indians Suffer Season’s Worst Defeat

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Indians (53-62) posted this season’s largest margin of defeat in their fourth and final game of the Red Sox (57-59) series on Sunday.

Boston scored early, racking up three runs in the first inning.

Cleveland fought back and tallied one run in the first with a sacrifice fly by Carlos Santana, but Jason Donald would be the only player to cross the plate for the Tribe.

The Red Sox widened their lead with additional runs in the second and fourth inning, and boomed with eight runs in the fifth, matching their season high for number of runs in an inning.

The final score was 14-1.

The Indians play the Angels on the road at 10:05 p.m. on Monday.
