Off-Duty Police Officer Accused of Rape

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police announced a Fourth District officer was arrested, accused of sexual assault while off duty.

According to Chief Michael McGrath, Patrol Officer Gregory C. Jones allegedly raped a female on July 13.

Jones, 47, surrendered to Internal Affairs Investigators on Thursday and was arrested.

The 21-year veteran was suspended without pay pending the adjudication of the criminal charges against him.

During a prior investigation, Jones was taken off street duty and given a non-sensitive assignment.
