CLEVELAND — The Browns’ head coach Pat Shurmur released a statement on Thursday regarding the condition of running back Trent Richardson.

It read:

“Trent Richardson underwent a successful routine arthroscopic procedure today on his left knee.  It was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla.  We anticipate that Trent will make a speedy recovery, and we are hopeful that he will be ready for our Week One game against Philadelphia.”

Richardson did not participate in practice on Tuesday due to a sore knee and missed Browns Family Night on Wednesday so he could travel to Florida for his procedure.

Dr. Andrews performed the original surgery on Richardson’s left knee in February.
