County Fair Crowns Kids’ Division SPAM Champion
BEREA, Ohio — The winner in the kids’ category of the Great American SPAM Championship was crowned at the Cuyahoga County Fair Wednesday.
Gavin Rousek beat out several competitors with his “Spam-chilada” recipe to take the crown.
To compete, chefs create their entries at home and deliver the finished dish to the fair to be judged. Each entry is required to use SPAM, a pre-packaged meat product, as the main ingredient in their dish and no more than 10 additional ingredients.
As champion the kids’ category, Rousek also wins a $60 prize and a chance to enter the national competition where $2,000 is up for grabs.
