CLEVELAND – Fox 8’s Mark Zinni is teaming up with the Cleveland Animal Protective League for a month-long campaign to find homes for needy animals.
“Summer is a time when kittens are just piling through our door and we want to pile them out the front door,” said the APL’s Ayse Dunlap. “With your help, we can spread more awareness into the community, that we’re here, that we have fabulous animals available for adoption and that you can’t beat the fee for everything you get!”
Throughout the month of August, cats and kittens – which usually cost $45 and $95 to adopt – will be available for only $8. The animals are up-to-date on their shots and come already spayed and neutered. This is a limited-time promotion for FOX 8 News viewers and all area residents.
“I’m an animal lover, so anything that helps animals is great,” said Pat Russo from Brunswick. His daughter, Rachel, already has two dogs from the shelter but donated half her birthday money to the APL on Monday. Her money is going towards a medical procedure to help Wyatt, a dog in need of a prosthetic leg.
“I wanted to help the dog because it was – I wanted to give him a second chance to have a regular life as a dog,” said Rachel. Each year, the APL places nearly 10,000 animals in Northeast Ohio homes.
Chris Alaman, from Richmond Heights, heard about the promotion and showed-up Monday. He wound-up adopting two cats for only $16.
“I saw your promotion for the cats - adopt for $8 a piece - and I was in the market for a new cat, so I said I gotta stop by and see what they have,” said Alaman. “Promotions like this, I think, help a whole lot and the APL is a great place.”
