DETROIT — The Cleveland Indians came close, but their efforts weren’t enough to beat the Detroit Tigers Sunday.
Neither team scored a run until the third inning, but the Tribe lost its edge in the tenth inning with the Tigers scoring five runs to their three.
The Indians did manage a short lived lead in the tenth inning after homers by Travis Hafner and Ezequiel Carrera. The Tigers held on, sweeping the Indians this series and bringing their losing streak to nine games.
The Indians hope to break the streak against the Minnesota Twins Monday night at 7:05.
