My Town: Fairies Land at Mentor Library
MENTOR, Ohio – Mentor Public Library became a mystical fairyland as two whimsical fairies took over on July 27 during the Fantastic Fairy Fun children’s program. Earth Fairy Ivy Greenbriar taught more than 80 attendees about the different types of fairies.
Children became honorary fairies after figuring out which fairy group they to: ear, wind, fire or water. They each came up with their own fairy name, decorated their own fairy houses and even made fairy dust!
“The program was based off our summer reading theme ‘Dream Big, Read!’”, said MPL Children’s Library Associate Lisa Layton who was the Fantastic Fairy Fun program coordinator. “The children were able to learn about fairy folklore in a fun outdoor setting and unleash their imaginations and creativity with the fairy house craft. Each fairy house came out special and unique.”
“This is so fun!” said Jenna Benns, a 7-year-old participant. “I liked learning about the different kinds of fairies and getting to decorate a home for them.”
Organizers hope the children will continue the enthusiasm and make fairy catching an annual summer tradition.
