Fans on Haslam: Football Friend or Foe?
CLEVELAND – Many Browns fans are hopeful they’ve scored a touchdown with Jimmy Haslam as the new owner.
“As long as we win and take home the glory. I just want the Browns to win,” fan Lashonda Allen said.
Some fans are a bit cautious because of Haslam’s 10-percent ownership in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
And yes, he will give that up before the sale is finalized by the NFL owners.
“That’s fine, as long as we keep the organization in tact and since the general manager is from Pittsburgh who is owning us now, hopefully it’s not going to become a farm club,” said Browns fan Robert Carruth.
“Treachery to the utmost. How can you sell out to our team’s biggest rivals?” said a Browns fan waiting for the bus in Ohio City.
But even he has hope Haslam can turn the Browns around.
“He did it there, maybe he can do it here,” the man said.
Browns fan and Cleveland city council member Tony Brancatelli thinks it’s a fresh new beginning.
“It’s an opportunity to bring a new owner in there with some new energy and hopefully see some changes that will happen where people have excitement once again for a potential winner,” Brancatelli said.
