PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio — A Ravenna Township man was arrested on Monday evening after leading police on a high speed chase in a one ton dump truck.

According to Portage County Sheriff David Doak, Mark S. Hagy, 52, was arrested on a felony charge of cultivation of marijuana.

Doak said in a statement that Hagy was arrested in the 6000 block of Peck Road in Ravenna Township after he fled from his residence in a one ton dump truck.

A high speed chase ensued before Hagy was taken into custody.

According to Doak, members of the Portage County Drug Task Force were eradicating marijuana from a property in the Portage County area when they spotted several marijuana plants growing outside Hagy’s residence at 5618 Indian Canoe Trail.

Agents approached Hagy’s home and he ran to the dump truck and began a chase.

Doak says Task Force Agents found 56 large marijuana plants on the property and after obtaining a search warrant to enter the home they discovered a detached building which was converted into a marijuana grow room.

Hagy’s case has been turned over to the Portage County Prosecutor’s Office. Additional charges are expected to be filed.
