KANSAS CITY — The Cleveland Indians (50-54) were unable to put the breaks on the losing streak, falling to the Kansas City Royals (43-60) Thursday evening, 5-2. The loss is the Indians’ fifth straight since losing 11-0 to the Minnesota Twins.

The Royals got on the board early in the game, with Alcides Escobar and Lorenzo Cain each scoring a run in the first inning. An additional two separate runs in the second inning by Chris Getz and Jarrod Dyson would bring the score to 4-0 Royals.

Neither team scored in the third inning. Carlos Santana got the Indians into the game in the fourth inning with a home run, bringing the score to 4-1. An additional Royals run by Escobar in the fifth made it 5-1 in favor of the home team.

The Indians lost their fifth in a row Thursday evening, 5-2.
