Babysitter Charged in 3-Year-Old’s Death

SANDUSKY, Ohio – A 3-year-old’s death was ruled a homicide and his caretaker is now facing charges.

According to the Sandusky Police Department, officers responded to an apartment on Fulton Street for an EMS call on Monday around 7:25 p.m.

The Sandusky Fire Department took Owen Barker, 3, to Firelands Hospital because of head, neck and back injuries.

Barker died a short time later.

Michael Milner, 24, who was caring for the child, said the baby tripped and hit his head on a plastic toy, but police said the injuries were not consistent with that report.

The Lucas County coroner’s office conducted an autopsy on Tuesday.

Milner was charged with a felony count of endangering children, felonious assault and murder.
