Store Employee Shot in Head During Robbery

CLEVELAND — A store employee was shot in the head during a robbery Friday night on the city’s west side.

According to Cleveland Police Officer Jennifer Ciaccia, two men entered the Wireless Wholesale store on West 25th Street, just after 6 p.m.

One of them, armed with a handgun, shot the clerk in the head. The two men then took off with stolen items from the store.

The store employee was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where his condition was not known. Ciaccia said he was conscious and talking when police arrived.

An anonymous tip led officers to the suspects who were in a house on Barber Avenue. The SWAT unit responded and arrested the two men without incident. Investigators recovered the stolen property, along with a weapon.

Both men are being held in the Cleveland Central Prison Unit awaiting charges.
