Police Identify Couple in Chardon Murder / Suicide

CHARDON, Ohio — Two people are dead following what Chardon Police are describing as a murder/suicide at Cooke’s Complete Service Center along Route 44 on Tuesday morning.

Police tell Fox 8 Frank Dobos, 44, was talking to his wife Monika Dobos, 40, in the parking lot when their conversation escalated into an argument around 9:36 a.m. Dobos brandished a semi-automatic pistol and shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself.

An employee inside Cooke’s Complete service center dialed 911.

“Upon arrival we found 2 victims a female and a male both deceased both had gunshot wounds, one appears to be self-inflicted wound however we are investigating that further,” said Lt. Troy Duncan with the Chardon Police, “It’s a fluke thing happening here in Chardon, we hope this is the end of it; don’t want to see anymore of it. It is a safe community just, weird coincidences this year has been tough on the city of Chardon”

Lt. Duncan also tells Fox 8 News the couple was involved in a divorce. Police are investigating whether the couple had a history of domestic violence.
