CLEVELAND — One of the best-known and most well-traveled bends around was restricted on Tuesday because of an accident that caused a major backup.

Sgt. Sammy Morris with the Cleveland Division of Police said a semi-truck had flipped and lost its load, prompting lane restrictions on I-90 eastbound near the Innerbelt Curve.

The accident happened shortly before 1:00 p.m.

ODOT said it would likely be hours before the area was cleaned up.

Other details on the accident were not immediately released.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and may detour at Carnegie Avenue, Chester Avenue or Superior Avenue then take East 55th Street north back to the highway.
