The start of the second half of the season for the Indians featured top notch pitching, and one big swing of the bat. They combined to give the Indians a 1-0 win over the Blue Jays on Friday night in Toronto.

Justin Masterson was dominant on the hill, striking out 5 batters and allowing just 5 hits over 7 innings. He earned the win, just his 6th of the season as the Bullpen Mafia said “Fuggeddaboutit” in slamming the door on the Jays’ bats.

Vinnie Pestano pitched a dominant 8th inning and Chris Perez went 1-2-3 in the 9th to record his 25th save of the season.

The Indians banged out 8 hits, with Michael Brantley collecting 3 of them, but could only muster one run, courtesy of a Travis Hafner solo shot in the second inning.

The Tribe and the Jays play again at 1:07 pm on Saturday afternoon.
