AKRON, Ohio —  The Ohio Investigative Unit issued a citation to an Akron bar for serving alcohol to an underage girl, who suffered serious injuries when she crashed her car back on May 18.

Investigators say 18-year-old Macy Emma Mruk, of Copley suffered skull and hip injuries when she crashed her Volkswagen Jetta into a tree on Bath Hills Boulevard and was thrown from the car.

Ohio state troopers say prior to the crash, Mruk, who was a senior at Revere High School, was served alcohol at Mama’s Inc., a bar also known as The Dorm.

Tests later determined Mruk’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was .235.

In the state of Ohio the legal limit for an underage driver is a (BAC) of 0.02.

The Ohio Investigative Unit issued six citations to The Dorm, including two charges for the sale of intoxicating liquor to a person under 21; two charges for furnishing intoxicating liquor to a person under 21; one charge for selling alcohol to an intoxicated person; and one charge of furnishing alcohol to an intoxicated person.

Investigators also presented their findings to the Akron City Prosecutor’s Office, which will now decide if the bar should also face criminal charges.

Mruk is facing multiple charges including operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol and underage consumption.
