Soda or Pop? What Do You Call Soft Drinks?

(WGHP) — The Coke vs. soda vs. pop debate continues – however this time, we have some actual data to support the debate.

SODA OR POP? WHAT DO YOU CALL SOFT DRINKS? COMMENTS AT 9AM!

Edwin Chen, a data scientist for Twitter, geo-tagged tweets from around the country to determine how people refer to a soft drink.

The map showed people across the South use the word Coke. Soda is most popular across the Northeast, the mid-Atlantic and parts of the West.

Pop wins the mid-West with the exception of parts of Wisconsin and near the Illinois-Missouri border where Coke is the winner.
